Alissa M. Barr
POET | ESSAYIST | REGISTERED NURSE | EDUCATOR
Alissa M. Barr holds an MFA from Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded the Kathryn Sedberry Prize. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Radford University, where she began her career as a critical care nurse.
​
Barr's poetry has appeared in New England Review, West Branch, Muzzle Magazine, and elsewhere. She is the recipient of a Bread Loaf-Rona Jaffe scholarship and a Sewanee Writers' Conference Tennessee Williams scholarship.​
​
From 2023-2024 she served as poetry editor of Nashville Review. She currently serves as a reader for The Adroit Journal.
